The Legacy of the Brothers of St. Patrick: Nurturing Minds, Building Character

Foundation and Vision

Founded in 1808 by Bishop Daniel Delany, the Congregation of the Brothers of St. Patrick traces its roots to a profound commitment to combating ignorance, injustice, wickedness, and immorality. Taking inspiration from the Great Apostle of Ireland, St. Patrick, who fought similar battles in his time, Bishop Delany recognized ignorance as the root cause of universal demoralization. Thus, he initiated the mission to impart moral education, focusing on the religious, moral, and literary education of children in schools.

Spread of the Mission

In 1875, the Brothers extended their mission to India, taking charge of a large Anglo-Indian School. This small seed planted by the Brothers has since grown into a towering tree, with branches reaching various parts of the country. The educational institutions under their guidance have produced numerous eminent individuals who have contributed significantly to the nation in diverse capacities.

Inspiration from Jesus Christ

The Brothers draw their primary inspiration for their commitment to serving people from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. In a rapidly changing world, they navigate challenges with faith, courage, and reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit, echoing the spirit of the founding Patricians.

Apostolic Endeavors and Faithful Acknowledgment

The Brothers acknowledge that their apostolic endeavors are inspired and nurtured by the Good News of Jesus Christ. In their commitment to sound, moral, intellectual, and physical education, they emphasize character formation as the cornerstone of any robust educational system. High ideals, gentlemanly behavior, and moral rectitude are instilled to shape individuals who contribute positively to society.
